Hirers are strongly advised to read these Terms and Conditions before booking and to contact AutoWorld Leisure in advance about any points which may be unclear. Please note that these Terms and Conditions do not include the full terms of Insurance and other cover. We can supply copies of Hire Agreements and Insurance and Breakdown cover so that all terms may be read in advance in full.
Definitions
The Owner is the company hiring out a motorhome, namely JJR Leisure trading as AutoWorld Leisure of 17 North Street, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 2PE.
"We / Us" means the Owner and/or AutoWorld Leisure.
The Hirer is the person hiring a motorhome, in whose name a hire is booked and who accepts responsibility for all payments which may become due and for damage to a hired motorhome as described below. A Driver is one of up to 3 persons nominated by the Hirer as Drivers of the hired motorhome, accepted by the Owner as such, and named on the Hire Agreement. One of the named Drivers must be the Hirer. Hirer Documentation
On collection of the Motorhome the Hirer must present two forms of identification in addition to his/her driver documentation. One must be a photo ID (eg a passport). The other must be a recent home ID showing name and current address (eg a bank statement, council tax statement, utility bill).
Driver Documentation To be accepted as a named Driver any person nominated by the Hirer must present a valid UK driver's licence (both parts if new style photo card). Drivers must be aged between 25 and 70, have held a full licence for a minimum of 5 years, and be in good health. Non-UK licence holders must present a valid International Driving Licence or Permit together with their national driving licence, one of which must include a photo. Endorsements (penalty points) shown on a licence will be considered on an individual basis. Points for minor traffic offences will generally not be considered. The Owner reserves the right to decline without explanation to accept as a Driver anyone he believes may not be fully capable of driving a motorhome safely and responsibly. Should a person thus declined be the Hirer, then the hire will be deemed to have been cancelled by the Hirer. Insurance
Hired Motorhomes have comprehensive insurance cover whilst on the UK mainland for the Hirer and named Drivers listed on the Hire Agreement for the period of the rental.
The insurance does not cover personal property and Hirers are advised to arrange appropriate holiday insurance (including provision for cancellations - see below). Should the Hirer permit any person not accepted as a named Driver to take charge of the hired motorhome all Insurance and other cover may be deemed null and void and full responsibility for all accidents, losses and damage will become that of the Hirer. Rentals for use in Ireland or Western Europe must be advised in advance so that they can be covered by the extended insurance and breakdown cover in the overseas Travel Pack. General exclusions and limitations:
In the case of accident or damage the Hirer's liability is up to £750 per accident or incident. In the case of theft, write off, or overhead damage (defined as over 6 feet/1.85 metres) the Hirer will be liable for up to £1500.
Damage caused to tyres/wheels, wing mirrors, glass, the underside of the vehicle, or to the engine due to filling up with the wrong type of fuel is not covered and is the Hirer's responsibility. Damage due to negligence and damage to the interior of the vehicle is not covered and the full cost of restitution will be chargeable to the Hirer. Whenever the Motorhome is left unattended the supplied steering wheel lock must be fitted, the vehicle must be locked, and the ignition key must be removed. Failure to comply with this condition will render the Hirer wholly responsible for any consequent loss or damage. Geographical limitations:
Standard cover is limited to use of the hired vehicle on the UK mainland (including Anglesey, the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight, and Scottish islands linked by road to the mainland, but excluding the Inner and Outer Hebrides, and the Shetland and Orkney isles not so linked). Cover is maintained during regular ferry crossings between parts of the UK mainland so included.
Extended cover is limited to countries within the European Union: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

- Collections
For weekly and weekend hires collection is between 3.00pm and 5.00pm on the Friday.
For mid-week hires collection is between 3.00pm and 5.00pm on the Monday. A Hirer may contact us a few days before the start of a hire and, if the vehicle will be available earlier in the day, a more convenient collection time may be agreed. If the Hirer is not familiar with motorhomes, we would like to spend at least an hour with him/her going through the features, fixtures and fittings and their usage, to ensure he/she feels comfortable with the vehicle. We will note and agree any damage already present and the Inventory of equipment and any Extras supplied. - Returns
For weekly and mid-week hires, returns must be between 9.00am and 10.30am on the Friday.
For weekend hires returns must be between 9.00am and 10.30am on the Monday. We insist upon punctuality, as we need to ensure that a vehicle is fully prepared for the next Hirer. Late returns will incur additional fees at the rate of £75 per hour or part of an hour. The fuel tank must be full of diesel. The waste water tank must be empty. The toilet must be empty and clean. The Motorhome will be checked for damage and the inventory for any shortages. If any damage (including cleaning and valeting) is found the Owner will retain the full Damage Deposit until the costs of making good have been ascertained and deducted. The balance will be forwarded to the Hirer as soon as possible thereafter. Breakdowns
All our Motorhomes carry full breakdown and recovery cover. In the event of a breakdown or accident a 24 hour telephone number is provided on the windscreen of the Motorhome.
The Hirer is authorised to spend up to £100 on repairs, which will be reimbursed on production of a valid VAT receipt. For amounts above £100 authorisation must be obtained from the Owner. In the case of breakdowns which are the fault of the Hirer (eg filling with the wrong type of fuel or other misuse), all costs incurred will be the responsibility of the Hirer. Further Responsibilities and Liabilities
The Hirer and/or Driver as applicable are wholly responsible for any offences committed against Road Traffic laws or regulations, including parking fines and congestion-zone charges whilst the vehicle is in their charge.
The Hirer is responsible for daily checks to the Motorhome of fluid levels, bulbs and tyre pressures. The Owner accepts no liability for replacement vehicle costs, travel or accommodation costs or consequential losses arising from a breakdown or accident. The Owner will make every effort to ensure that a reserved Motorhome is ready on time. In the event of circumstances beyond our control where both the booked vehicle and a suitable alternative are not available our liability will be limited to refunding the payments made. When the vehicle is in motion passengers must be seated in the designated seats wearing the seat belt provided, the gas must be turned off and any items not bolted down made secure. AutoWorld Leisure will store 1 parked car per hire on their premises, but accept no liability for any loss or damage caused by a Third Party or events outside their control. Keys to cars stored by us must be left with us so as to allow us to move them if necessary. We will also store empty suitcases, travel bags etc for Hirers but likewise accept no responsibility for losses or damage. Animals
No animals except guide dogs are permitted in Motorhomes (except where a designated "pet Motorhome" may be provided). If this condition is breached valeting charges will be incurred as will the cost of replacing any items damaged by or from the smell of animals.
Smoking
It is illegal to smoke in one of our motorhomes. If this condition is breached valeting charges will be incurred as will the cost of replacing any items damaged by or due to the smell of smoke from cigarettes, pipes, cigars etc. In extreme cases a report may be made to the appropriate legal enforcement authority.
